Graffiti Fine Art | Danish urban artist Morten Andersen, who is part of the London-based art label “Beautiful Crime”, started - as many well-known urban artists - his career on the streets as a graffiti artist. Since a few month, the originally Aalborg-based artist has a studio in Berlin and for that reason and because I really like his detailed and abstract artworks, I met him in his studio for a small photo-documentary

If you try to describe Morten’s style you’ll notice that it’s not that easy to pigeonhole it as graffiti, painting or drawing - It’s more complex and cross-disciplinary, for what reason I had a lot of fun watching him painting with brushes, fingers and spray cans, drawing with markers and wiping with rags. Using those different tools, he creates massive urban-inspired fine paintings, including a lot of hand styled line work, abstract patterns and fantastic colors. As a result, his inspiring, unique artworks combine rough shapes and detailed drawings on different layers and are for that reason fascinating examples for the diversity of the urban arts.

In my eyes my photos visualise that diversity and provide a good insight into the Morten Andersen’s creative process. For more info about Morten, visit his website or become one of his friends on Facebook! For more photos from Morten’s studio in Berlin, visit my photo-stream on Flickr
