I never understood the thinking of house owners, caretakers or inhabitants, who like gray walls and always paint over graffities, tags and other paintings with gray paint. For this reason, I also can’t understand, why they don’t use the same color in which their house was painted before!?
Because of that, a large number of houses look like rag rugs - A shade of gray here, another there, it’s all right as long as the wall is gray and not colorful or even artistical.
No wonder that some people used that proceed of the house owners, caretakers or inhabitants against them. They created the art of graffiti removal! They took the style of the over and over repainted walls and reproduced it. In my opinion an impressive idea with a more or less urban art intention.
The art of graffiti removal creates a new, very abstract style of mural art with an very interesting (guerrilla) aspect: Nobody knows, whether a rag rug wall was painted by a protagonist of modern urban art or by an antagonist…
