# Triumph & Tragedy: Revok in Hamburg

Big news for all writers, graffiti enthusiasts and vandals: Famous writer and graffiti artist **Revok** is going to open his first solo-show in Germany at Hamburg’s [Vicious Gallery](http://viciousgallery.com/)! Bringing together triumph and tragedy (that’s the title of the show), the Los Angeles based urban artist seems to present artworks based on found objects taken from [the ruins of Detroit](/urban-exploring-ruins-detroit/)...

As the found materials, also [Revok’s history](http://revok1.com/blog/2011/11/revok-tragedy-triumph-video/) represents triumph and tragedy at the same time. Having one of his major successes by being part of this year’s *Art in the Streets* exhibit at [LA’s Museum of Contemporary Art](/urban-art-censorship/), he was [sentenced to 180 days in jail](http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/04/revok-graffiti-writer-setnenced-to-180-days-in-jail.html) by a judge a short while after the opening. For that reason, I think Revok’s Hamburg exhibition will include some highly personal artworks showing a mixture of great success but also downfall.

A must to see for everyone having the chance to be in Hamburg next month! My friends from [graffuturism.com](http://graffuturism.com/2011/11/09/video-preview-revok-triumph-and-tragedy/) got some more photos!

**Date:** December 3th | **Location:** Vicious Gallery, Kleine Freiheit 46, 22767 Hamburg
