For those of you who like the commercialization of street art, the next month will be pretty interesting: In Berlin, the “Stroke.3 - Urban Art Fair” will take place between October 7th and 10th (more about that commercial street art event later!) and in London, the “Moniker - International Art Fair” will take place between October 14th and 17th. Because I’m currently in London, I’ll write about that Moniker-event first…
The idea behind the international art fair Moniker is - as you can read over there on Vandalog - to create an urban art event as an alternative to the “Frieze Art Fair”, one of these classic mainstream art events, which takes place at the same time.
Breaking from the traditional format, Moniker highlights the work of a generation of artists often overlooked in British mainstream fairs, though widely acclaimed by museums and established art institutions throughout the world. These artists, extensively collected transcend various genres, readily exploring high and low aspects of visual language. Moniker expertly brings together a select roster from some of the world’s leading artists and galleries, combining forces to showcase their progressive and challenging work in the modern art market. I know, that’s all a lot of blah blah, but there’s also a more interesting aspect about it! Moniker will feature six interactive project spaces for artists like ESPO, Polly Morgan, Herakut, Titifreak, Ben Eine, and others, which means, in my opinion, that there will be some live-paintings or similar things…that would be great, ’cause I’m still searching for opportunities to extend my new Urban Art Photography blog…I’ll keep you up to date!
