Urban Art Photography: Captivating Street Art Images

In one of the industrial harbours along the Rhine river, a light graffiti crew used the strange, dirty and old scenery to awake Gorillas! GorillaLighting is a light art crew from Germany who is not just projecting Gorilla faces onto facades, but also (probably inspired by Luzinterruptus) illuminating plants, recently for the Luminale festival in Frankfurt. Projected as light graffiti the gorilla portrait breathes nocturnal life into the unreal world. Huge fronts cry for attention. Grotesque steel giants wait for a character. ...

One of the first posts here was the Top Urban Art Photographers top-list, giving brief introductions about a few of my most favorite graffiti and street art photographers like Keegan Gibbs, Nils Müller, Ruedi One, Ian Cox and others. Similar to the Urban Exploration Photography post this list became one of the Urban Art Core motors over the last months, attracting attention by many of our visitors and friends on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest! This year’s urban art festival IBUg was the reason for missing posts during the last week. Organized by famous German artist Ta55o (Ma’Claim crew) I stayed together with about 100 urban artists from all over Europe in an abandoned, former textile factory in Meerane, a small town in the eastern part of Germany and enjoyed the great feeling in the decayed buildings, nice talks with nice people and the general atmosphere (during the week I already uploaded some quick impressions on tumblr!)… ...

Tape Art Installation | A few weeks ago, internationally well-known urban tape artist Buffdiss started to tape a large-scale installation in the big abandoned swimming pool at Stattbad, an more or less alternative art and culture area in Berlin. Herakut is probably the most famous and popular urban art duo from Germany. Their impressing mixture of rough, dirty painting and photo-realistic elements is well-known all over the world. In October, I met both of them at the Moniker Art Fair in London and had the chance to document their live painting at Village Underground. I really enjoyed watching them painting one of these typical London brick walls and in my opinion they did a great job again. Tape Art | Again I have some new info about Berlin-based tape artist Buffdiss (here in action). The Australian-born urban artist combined his trained eyes for impressing patters and his graphically skills to create an interesting new tape art series in an abandoned environment about the “Dido and Aeneas” opera in the last weeks! “Dido and Aeneas” by English Baroque composer Henry Purcell includes a prologue and three acts and is the story of the love between Dido and Aeneas, intrigues and suicide. It is remembered as a monumental work in Baroque opera and although you can like Buffdiss’ tape artwork even if you don’t know the whole story I recommend to read the short synopsis on Wikipedia… ...
