Abandoned Messaging - Rero
Some weeks ago, I wrote an article about urban artist Rero and his abandoned messages. Yesterday I received an e-mail by Rero with nice photos of new artworks attached, which I will show you today!
“It was too cold in Berlin to paste up and making stencils as well … so I come back to Paris and the following result… Some fresh abandonned messages about Image Negation featuring Ludo!” (Rero)
“Image Negation” is Rero’s recent street art project. It’s minimalist typography with deletion, serving a lot of joke and understanding. I like this abandoned messages!

Amazing Dubai Time-Lapse
Two days ago, I showed these fantastic urban time-lapse videos from Paris to you. Today I will present another city in time-lapse: Dubai!
Dubai - as you maybe know - is one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. The one million city is the urban crown jewel around the Persian Gulf. That fact is already shown by Philip Bloom’s Dubai time-lapse, which was filmed in Dubai over 5 days and nights.

Abandoned Street Art: Rero’s Messages
I was really flashed, when I saw the photos of Rero’s great new text-message artworks in an abandoned hospital somewhere in Paris yesterday on Ekosystem!
Rero is a conceptual artist with a graffiti background, although the only similarity between graffiti and his artworks is that both can be seen on the streets. He calls his very minimalistic and simple style “Image Negation”, which is a reversion of the rules of classical illustration:

Abandoned Painting: The Ghostvillage Project
For me there’s almost nothing more interesting than an abandoned industry area, old and uninhabited houses or those lonely and lonesome places between houses in the urban landscape.
Six days ago, I already posted an article about a fantastic abandoned painting project, called Ghostvillage, which took place on the west coast of Scotland several weeks ago.
Now there’s another video, documenting the work of the six renowned urban artists Timid, Remi/Rough, System, Stormie Mills, Juice 126 and Derm in that old ghostvillage.

Great Interactive Building Projection
In the last month, I wrote a lot about building projections around the world, but I never saw an better one! The word of future is interactive - People don’t only want to be part of their environment, they want to create their environment with their own actions, they want interact with it.
The new creative interaction collective YesYesNo, which is specialized in the creation of engaging, magical installations that combine creativity and artistic visions, recently turned the Auckland Ferry Building in Auckland City into an interactive playground:

Ghostvillage Project: Repaint Abandoned Cities!
If your aren’t Scottish, you have maybe never heard about the great and fantastic “Ghostvillage Project”. Some weeks ago, six more or less renowned urban artists - Timid, Remi/Rough, System, Stormie Mills, Juice 126 and Derm - meet each other for three days on the west coast of Scotland to repaint an abandoned 1970s village.
Working together on huge collaborative walls and individually in hidden nooks and crannies all over the site the artists realised long held dreams and were inspired by the bleakness and remoteness of the site. Drawing on the history of the village the artists’ stated intent on completion of the project was to populate the ghostvillage with the art and characters that it deserved. (Agents of Change)

WTF: Neon Sign Boneyard in Las Vegas?
Recently I read an article about the “Neon Sign Boneyard” in Las Vegas written by my friend Bigod, who found a very interesting photo-album about it on Flickr.
“The Neon Sign Boneyard in Las Vegas. Here you find the old neon signs that were outside casinos that have long since gone. The boneyard is a fantastic commentary on the culture and architecture of Las Vegas from its early days in the 1920’s to today.” (arZan)

Iemza - Abandoned Paintings
I love it to see paintings and other artworks at abandoned places like old factory sites or derelict ruins: The power and colorfulness of the artworks in contradistinction to the gray, grungy and lifeless buildings and walls.
When I saw photos of Iemza’s abandoned paintings the first time, I was really astonished! The French artist creates fantastic abstract creatures, which bring back life to their brown, gray and dirty walls:

D*Face & Ridiculous - Skate & Create
An abandoned pool, some well-talented skaters and a lot of time to skate and have fun - what should there be more? Right, an internationally known urban artist who creates a fabulous skull-hell out of the pool!
British street artist D*Face recently visited together with Gary Owens, Salba, and other pro-skaters the “Ridiculous Pool” in pro surfer Peter King’s backyard in LA and redesigned it with about 500 to 1,000 skull stencils.

Dolk & Pøbel - Living Decay
In 2008, the two talented Norwegian urban artists Dolk and Pøbel hit the fjords of Norway and painted abandoned houses! The pictures from back then went around the world.
This project is ongoing with more works added this year! To set the mood for new huge mural artworks, the video documentation “Living Decay” was published. It’s a suggestive daily log, that narrates through 4 tales, the making of these huge paintings inside the unique northern landscape.
