The two French photographers and urban explorers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre tried to document it in their series “The Ruins of Detroit”! tags: - Mural Art - Graffiti America - Urban Exploration Photography title: 'Urban Exploring: Ruins of Detroit' url: https://www.urbanartcore.com/urban-exploring-ruins-detroit/ --- # Urban Exploring: Ruins of Detroit *Abandoned Places* | Right, I have a marked preference for old and abandoned buildings. The [remarkable charm](/beauty-decay-art-urban-exploration/), the [historical atmosphere](/new-york-undercity/), the silence and the explorer-feeling are indescribable, for what reason you need to take photos to catch the power of the moment! **Yves Marchand** and **Romain Meffre**, both born in Parisian suburbs, photograph for several years abandoned places around the world. Their most famous photographs are those showing *“The Ruins of Detroit”*, which were already shown in different galleries in Paris, Stockholm and Strasbourg. *Detroit, industrial capital of the XXth Century, played a fundamental role shaping the modern world. The logic that created the city also destroyed it. Nowadays, unlike anywhere else, the city’s ruins are not isolated details in the urban environment. They have become a natural component of the landscape. Detroit presents all archetypal buildings of an American city in a state of mummification. Its splendid decaying monuments are, no less than the Pyramids of Egypt, the Coliseum of Rome, or the Acropolis in Athens, remnants of the passing of a great Empire. * (Yves Marchand & Romain Meffre) **Urbex Photographers from around the Globe:** Acquired a taste for urbex and wanna see some more impressing shots?
